The Virginia Athletics and Mentorship Prep Academy was founded in 2009 as a non-profit PG athletic program. Originally named Hampton Roads Prep Academy, VAM was the Second football-based sports academy in the country, with the former North Carolina Tech being the first, having opened in 2008. VAM has always been based in the beautiful City of Hampton, located in the peninsula region of Virginia.
The program was conceived for young men who have completed their high school eligibility academically and athletically but didn't commit or went unrecruited by colleges. Virginia A&M recognizes that many young men need more preparation and development to ensure success! By reclassifying at VAM, student-athletes will be provided a gap year between high school and college. They will gain the edge required to be successful collegiate student-athletes socially, academically, and athletically.
Our student-athletes will learn academic strategies, gain maturity and an understanding of personal responsibility, and undergo intense athletic training and personal money management while competing against NCAA, NJCAA, and several other top post-graduate programs. Since our inception in 2009, we have had the honor of working with over 500 young men from across the country, including Alaska and Canada.
